What you get
01
Practice observations
Specific, direct observations about your firm's revenue efficiency, capacity model, pricing structure, and delegation pattern — written as a smart colleague would, not a benchmarking algorithm.
02
Tech stack gap analysis
A layer-by-layer read on your current tools across GL, tax prep, practice management, client portal, payroll, payments, and AI — with specific observations on what's missing for a firm your size and service mix.
03
The question that doesn't change
An honest analysis of your effective hourly rate as a practice owner, whether the practice would run without you, and whether you're building something transferable — or a job with your name on the door.
The questions we ask
Revenue
"What did you personally draw from the practice last year — and how many hours did that take?"
Transferability
"If you stepped away for six weeks, how would the practice perform?"
Client equity
"Do your clients have meaningful relationships with staff other than you?"
Capacity
"How often are you personally doing work a junior staff member should be doing?"
Tech stack
"Across every layer of the practice — what are you actually running, and what's missing?"
Direction
"What does success look like for this practice in three years — in your words, not a category?"
Why this exists
Most CPA firm partners know something is off. They just don't have a way to see it clearly. There is no Canadian-specific, independent instrument that asks the questions that actually matter — not about compliance deadlines, but about whether the practice is working for the partner. Practice Pulse is that instrument. Built by The Curated, shaped by 15 years inside the Canadian accounting ecosystem.
How it works
Step 01
You complete five sections
The Firm, Revenue, Capacity, Direction, and your Tech Stack. Named questions, honest answers. About six minutes for most partners.
Step 02
You get immediate output
Practice observations, a stack gap analysis, and the permanent-questions read — generated from your answers, not a generic template.
Step 03
Your data shapes the research
When we reach 100 named submissions, we publish the first Canadian Independent Firm Benchmark Report. Founding cohort members get it automatically.
Step 04
The editorial follows
Every issue of The Curated is shaped by aggregate data from the Practice Pulse dataset. You contribute to what gets written — and you read the result.

On firm identity — and why we ask for it directly.

Named data is real data. When a partner puts their firm name on something, they answer more carefully and more accurately. That makes the findings more useful to every firm in the dataset — including theirs. It's the same reason peer-reviewed research requires attribution and why the Rosenberg Survey has carried weight for 30 years: accountability improves quality.

Individual firm records are never published or shared. What gets published are aggregate findings — no firm identifiable — which become The Curated's original Canadian research. The benchmark report this dataset enables will be the first of its kind for independent Canadian CPA firms. Named submissions are what make it credible.

Six minutes. Real output. Real data.

Join the founding cohort of Canadian CPA firm partners completing Practice Pulse. You'll get your results immediately — and the benchmark report when we reach 100 submissions.
